Loved the show and nice review. For storyline purposes I do want to clarify that Juicy and Larry are not cousins. They are just two boys that grew up together.

Comment on ‘Just Like Us’ gives a Denver story urgent new life by Beth Lindroos https://onstagecolorado.com/just-like-us-gives-a-denver-story-urgent-new-life/#comment-5618 Tue, 31 Mar 2026 02:07:41 +0000 https://onstagecolorado.com/?p=123899#comment-5618 Beautiful and thoughtful review – thanks! I just saw the concluding performance last night. Wow. Festive, somber, complex, lasting. And to top it all off, three of the real-life young women and Helen Thorpe all came on stage at the end. The young women (now in their 30’s) showed us, once again, the power of believing in each others’ potential, regardless of what “papers” we may or may not possess…… Hats off to Su Teatro!!

Comment on Podcast: Reviewing the reviewers by Matt Hindmarch https://onstagecolorado.com/podcast-reviewing-the-reviewers/#comment-5583 Sun, 22 Mar 2026 15:39:12 +0000 https://onstagecolorado.com/?p=124069#comment-5583 Thank you for your discussion on reviewing in Colorado. My primary thought about the state of reviewing here is that reviewers have sided too far into the “cheerleader” camp. One reviewer in particular appears to have worn out the page in their thesaurus for “terrific”. I don’t read their reviews because they are fundamentally dishonest.

An honest review, though it may sting, is one of the very few ways an artist may get the feedback they need to improve their craft.

And I laughed out loud when I saw that we had suggested exactly the same thing as solutions to the overpowering scene breaks and furniture moving waltz. Nice to know our minds work alike.

Comment on By-the-book ‘Little Women: The Broadway Musical’ really sings by Donna Bright Parsons https://onstagecolorado.com/little-women-review-the-broadway-musical-performance-now/#comment-5486 Sat, 28 Feb 2026 23:07:18 +0000 https://onstagecolorado.com/?p=82649#comment-5486 Is there an educational materials packet to go along with this adaption to compare with the novel, like there is for Kate Hamill’s adaption? Our community is performing this one this weekend, saw it last night, but saw these materials for study but only for hers, so just wondering if there’s something similar for his.

Thank you

Donna

Comment on A celebration of Black hair: Kenya Mahogany’s ‘Happy 2B Nappy’ premieres in Aurora by Gemma https://onstagecolorado.com/a-celebration-of-black-hair-kenya-mahoganys-happy-2b-nappy-premieres-in-aurora/#comment-5466 Sat, 21 Feb 2026 19:55:37 +0000 https://onstagecolorado.com/?p=121027#comment-5466 I recently attended the play Happy to Be Nappy, and it was truly heartfelt, relatable, and wonderfully funny. The production offered more than entertainment—it wove in a meaningful history lesson that felt natural and reflective of real-life family conversations around the dinner table.

Each actor fully embodied their role, and every character felt familiar, as if you could connect them to someone in your own life. The story felt like a walk back in time, honoring culture, identity, and shared experiences with authenticity and care. The kindred spirit of the cast brought an energy that made the entire performance vibrant and engaging.

Bold, beautiful, and flawless—this production was a celebration of heritage, family, and self-love. Five out of five.
